Buffalo police are investigating who inflicted burns suffered by a 15-week-old Jack Russell Terrier puppy found about late this afternoon in the back yard of a home in the 200 block of Herman Street.

Police, firefighters and animal control officers responded to the scene about 5 p.m., after a call to 911.

The puppy was taken for treatment to the Buffalo Small Animal Hospital.
