Cattaraugus County sheriff’s deputies over the weekend charged two men with drunken driving in separate incidents.
The Sheriff’s Office on Sunday released details on the arrest late Friday in Great Valley of Patrick M. Smith, 47, of Salamanca, on charges of driving while intoxicated, failure to yield and failure to maintain his lane. Also late Friday, deputies charged Christopher C. Reding, 26, of Randolph, with DWI in Napoli.
In the first case, deputies arrested Smith on Route 417 in the Town of Great Valley about 11:32 p.m., after they said he failed to yield and stay in his lane. Deputies said their investigation revealed a strong presence of alcohol and Smith was taken into custody. Smith, of Adams Street in Salamanca, refused to take a Breathalyzer test.
In the other case, Reding, of Valentine Road, Randolph, was charged with felony aggravated DWI, speeding and failure to keep right after being pulled over at 11:51 p.m. on Route 242 in Napoli.
