A 27-year-old Niagara Falls, Ont., man was killed early Sunday in a one-car crash on Townline Road in Fort Erie, Ont.

Niagara Regional Police were withholding the name of the victim until family members are notified.

Police said they responded to the collision site on Townline Road, east of Switch Road, after a passing motorist notified authorities about 2:50 a.m. in the Town of Fort Erie.

Initial police investigation revealed that the 27-year-old driver was ejected from his 2003 Dodge Durango after he lost control of his vehicle as it headed eastbound on Townline Road. Police said he was the only person in the vehicle, which left the road, veered into ditch, rolled and struck a utility pole.

The victim was taken to Greater Niagara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they are continuing to investigate the crash. Any witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact investigators at 905 688-4111, Ext. 5500.
