A Clarence man was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting his roommate with a metal watering can, state police reported.
Troopers reported responding at 1 a.m. to the Wilson Farms store on Main Street in Clarence, where Thomas P. Moulder, 61, reported that his roommate, Carmen L. Brown, 37, had returned home highly intoxicated and started an argument.
Brown struck Moulder several times in the face with a metal watering can before trying to choke him, and then restrained Moulder in an attempt to keep him from leaving the residence, according to troopers. Moulder, who suffered several facial cuts and a swollen eye, eventually broke free and ran to the convenience store to report the incident, troopers said.
Brown was arrested shortly afterward and charged with second-degree unlawful imprisonment, second-degree assault, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal mischief, and criminal obstruction of breathing. He was arraigned in Clarence Town Court and committed to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.
