Thursday’s Cypress Hill show, with guest Action Bronson, represents an extending of the olive branch, hip-hop style. For as long as the music itself has existed, so, too, has the rivalry between its purveyors on opposing coasts.
On occasion, this rivalry has turned violent. More often, it’s a battle of words, appropriately enough. But California’s Cypress Hill – a veteran, fully tenured and uber creative hip-hop collective, and the first Latino rap outfit to go platinum – is joining hands with underground New York City rapper Action Bronson for a tag-team tour that jumps generations and straddles coasts.
Doors open at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Town Ballroom (681 Main St.), with the music set to start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28 advance (, $32 at the door. Visit to watch a trailer advancing the tour.
