A Buffalo couple was arrested on child-endangerment charges Thursday during what was supposed to be a court-ordered property seizure action by the Erie County Sheriff’s civil division.

Shawn P. Lyons, 29, and Heather A. Obstarczyk, 27, were arrested by Civil Deputies Dan Zlotek, Michael Hooch and Dan Wood when they got to their Columbus Avenue house about 11 a.m and saw their children, ages 3 and 2, in soiled clothes and diapers.

The parents were charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The deputies reported deplorable conditions in the house, including several piles of dog feces. The children were turned over to one of their grandfathers and the child neglect case was referred to Child Protective Services.
