OLEAN – The Department of Computer Science at St. Bonaventure University will hold its 11th annual Girls Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 10.

The event, which will include a series of workshops, is aimed at stimulating interest in technology among local girls in the 6th through 8th grades. The workshops will be presented by women who are professionals in the world of technology. The girls from local area schools who will be participating in the Girls Day program will learn about robots, video editing and animation. In addition, they will gain experience in creating video games and web pages.

Girls Day was founded by Suzanne Watson, a former lecturer in computer science at St. Bonaventure, after she read a report about decreased interest in the sciences among middle-school age girls.
