WARSAW – An inmate at the state’s Upstate Correctional Facility in Malone was charged by state police assigned to the Warsaw barracks on Wednesday with first-degree promoting prison contraband and third-degree possession of a weapon, both felonies.
James T. Nelson, 31, is accused of having an edged metal weapon while he was an Attica Correctional Facility inmate in July, troopers said. Already serving a prison term for his Albany County assault conviction, he will be brought back to Attica Town Court for further proceedings in the prison case later this year.
