ALEXANDER – The Genesee County Legislature this week approved a grant offer from the state Department of Transportation to complete financing for reconstructing aprons leading to the terminal at the county airport. It’s preliminary work, now being completed, with plans for a new terminal next year.
Meeting in the town hall in its outreach program where sessions are held in different towns, the legislators approved a $120,000 transfer for the purchase of fuel. The airport now is the base for 62 planes, including Mercy Flight and state police helicopters in two of three corporate hangars.
Also accepted was a $36,000 federal highway grant. Hunt Engineers of Rochester will perform a horizontal curve study of county highways to meet new federal regulations on the placement of warning signs.
