LOCKPORT – The city’s development agency voted Thursday to commit up to $50,000 toward planning and design of interior improvements in two largely vacant buildings at Harrison Place.
R. Charles Bell, city planning and development director, said an architectural and design firm will be chosen as soon as Nov. 15, the next meeting for the Greater Lockport Development Corp.
Harrison Place, owned by a city-controlled private entity called 210 Walnut LLC, is the former Harrison Radiator Division plant at Walnut and Washburn streets. Its four buildings, totaling 461,000 square feet, are home to 30 small businesses.
Bell said more aggressive marketing of Buildings 3 and 4, little used except for storage, is on tap. Light manufacturing has been the goal, “but we’re also looking at what we can offer larger-end users,” Bell said.
