LOCKPORT – A man who drove his van over the curb on Oliver Street in North Tonawanda, causing four teenage girls to scatter, was sentenced to a year in jail Tuesday by Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas.
James A. Staley, 27, of Niagara Falls Boulevard, Town of Tonawanda, had violated the terms of his probation on his guilty plea to second-degree reckless endangerment.
The incident occurred Sept. 12, 2010. Assistant Public Defender Alfonso M. Bax said Staley has been refusing treatment for depression and said his problems stem from “addiction combined with mental and emotional disorders.”
In another vehicular case Tuesday, David L. Fuller, 41, of Harvest Ridge Way, Lockport, admitted to felony driving while intoxicated and was scheduled for sentencing by Farkas Jan. 30. Fuller was pulled over June 6 on Bartz Road in Lockport.
