Four residents escaped their burning home in the Elmwood-West Utica area early Monday morning, leaving an estimated $50,000 damage to two houses, Buffalo fire officials reported.
At least one of the four residents was led from the house by city firefighters, who responded to a 3:31 a.m. alarm at 256 W. Utica, just east of Elmwood Avenue in the city’s Elmwood Village, according to eyewitnesses and fire officials.
One resident suffered burns, while a Buffalo firefighter was taken to the hospital with an ankle injury.
The fire left an estimated $45,000 damage at 256 W. Utica, along with $5,000 exposure damage at 254 W. Utica. The cause remains under investigation.
