A female employee at the Gateway-Longview campus in Williamsville was attacked by two clients Sunday night, the organization said in statements released to the media.
The clients, who are residents of the campus, “physically harmed the employee,” a statement read.
The employee, who was not identified, was treated at a local hospital for contusions and bruises and later released, Amherst Police Capt. Scott Chamberlin said Monday. The worker was “resting comfortably at home,” Gateway-Longview officials said.
“We are working with law enforcement officials to ensure that appropriate legal action will be taken,” the organization said.
The two clients – girls aged 13 and 15 – were both arrested on felony assault charges, Chamberlin said.
Gateway-Longview provides residential care to teens and young adults who need 24-hour treatment and support, including children removed from their families by a judge because of behavioral or emotional issues.
