Margaret H. “Peg” Nelson, a retired teacher of the developmentally disabled, died Thursday in the Schofield Residence, Town of Tonawanda. She was 91.
Born in Middleport, the former Margaret Hammond was a 1942 graduate of Buffalo State Teachers College and was a lifelong member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. She taught for BOCES in the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda School District at Lincoln and Hoover elementary schools.
Mrs. Nelson was a former Red Cross Gray Lady, a former volunteer for Hospice Buffalo and volunteered for 12 years at Schofield Residence.
Her husband of 50 years, Harry P., died in 1992.
Surviving are two daughters, Candace and Alice Kingdon; and a son, John.
There will be no services.
