Jazz pianists Adam Kromelow and Williamsville native Angelo DiLoreto met at the Manhattan School of Music but have styles that are far from alike. They do agree on one thing, the music primacy of the band Genesis, so they collaborate now and then on “an evening of Genesis,” reinterpreting and reimagining the songs.
Last spring, they presented an evening of Genesis at Denton Cottier & Daniels, Buffalo’s legendary Steinway dealer. The response was so enthusiastic that now they are repeating the feat.
Expect to hear the songs in a new way.
“Adam and I are two very different players,” DiLoreto told The News last spring. “We have very different approaches to composition. We both think differently about improvisation. We’re both musical brothers in this Genesis project. There was a very orchestral sound to their music.”
DiLoreto and Kromelow perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Denton Cottier & Daniels (460 Dodge Road, Getzville). An auction to benefit the Amherst Symphony precedes the concert at 7 p.m. Admission is $15. For info, call 689-6996.
