LOCKPORT – Five years in prison and three years of post-release supervision was the sentence Thursday for a Niagara Falls burglar.
Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas imposed the penalty on Joseph M. DiLaura III, 19, of Lindbergh Avenue, who had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree burglary. Once he is released from prison, DiLaura must pay two victims a total of $18,000 in restitution.
DiLaura and codefendant Christopher D. Seelbaugh, 18, of 13th Street, Niagara Falls, backed up a vehicle to a home on Grauer Road in the Town of Niagara Jan. 10 and hauled out more than $30,000 worth of property. Seelbaugh, who pleaded guilty Sept. 19, is awaiting sentencing.
DiLaura also broke into a home on Stephenson Avenue in the Falls between July 2 and 9, 2011.
