A Facebook posting and an anonymous tip helped Town of Tonawanda police arrest a petit larceny suspect Monday night, police said.
Police charged Gerald L. Griffin, 31, of Buffalo, with the misdemeanor crime, after he was accused of stealing a PlayStation 3 game from Oogie Games, 2889 Sheridan Drive, on Monday evening.
A store-surveillance video of the theft was posted on Facebook, leading to an anonymous tip that gave police Griffin’s name. Police said they found an old mug shot of him and compared it to the person shown in the video.
“It was a clear match," Lt. Nicholas A. Bado said.
Police picked up Griffin at his Buffalo home and later charged him with the crime.
