LOCKPORT – A North Tonawanda man, caught by police outside his ex-girlfriend’s home May 18 in violation of an order of protection, accepted a plea deal Tuesday in Niagara County Court.
Thomas L. Jay, 42, of Schenck Street, pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal contempt of court and was scheduled for sentencing Dec. 11 by County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III.
Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols said she wouldn’t object to a defense request for the minimum sentence, which for Jay, a second-time felon, is 1½ to three years behind bars.
The deal also called for prosecutors to dismiss charges from Jay’s April 25 arrest involving the same woman, and to set aside possible charges regarding harassing phone calls to her from the County Jail.
