Six people were taken to area hospitals, all with injuries not considered life-threatening, following a two-car crash in Amherst that left both drivers ticketed on Sunday afternoon, police reported Monday.
Witnesses told police that a southbound vehicle on Harlem Road went through a green light before colliding with a westbound car that apparently went through a red light on Saratoga Road at about 1:20 p.m. Sunday.
Amherst police ticketed John D. Jung, 90, of Eggertsville, for a red-light violation, Capt. Patrick McKenna said.
The other driver, Monique A. Cooley, 56, of Cheektowaga, also was ticketed, for unlicensed operation, police said. Both drivers and one of Cooley’s four passengers were taken to Erie County Medical Center. Her other three passengers, ranging in age from 12 to 16, were taken to Women & Children’s Hospital.
