Kleinhans Music Hall is rocking this weekend, with big concerts tonight and Saturday.
Tonight, the legendary rock band Three Dog Night is joining the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra for a concert in the “BPO Rocks!” series. Cory Wells, one of the band’s lead singers, grew up on Buffalo’s East Side. He spoke with The Buffalo News earlier this week, and talked about his childhood, which included roller skating at St. Ann’s, listening to gospel music outside a storefront Buffalo church, and working as a busboy at Sattler’s, where he sang at an employee party. Wells is currently fronting Three Dog Night with Danny Hutton, one of the other two original singers. Admission is $31-$61.
On Saturday, the BPO continues its Pops series by welcoming Spectrum, a tribute to Motown. Spectrum has to be one of the hardest-working bands in show business. Last time the group was here, three years ago, one of its singers actually went airborne, jumping off the Kleinhans stage and into the aisle. The crowd gasped. You never know what to expect.
Admission is $27-$74. For info on BPO events, call 885-5000.
