A pair of convenience stores in opposite parts of the city of Buffalo were held up late Thursday, according to Buffalo Police reports.

The first robbery occurred about 7:40 p.m. at Alfy’s Mini Mart, 465 Best St. The store owner told police that four men entered the store, one brandishing a knife, and demanded money. The owner fought with the suspect who had the knife, according to police, while the other robbers caused damage to his store.


The four men fled a short time later. Ferry-Fillmore District Police were investigating.


Then, about 9:15 p.m., a male entered the store at Valero Gas Station at 523 Starin Ave. armed with a hammer and demanded money.

The clerk told police the suspect grabbed a tray of cigarette lighters and fled the store.
