RED RIBBON WEEK

The National Family Partnership is holding a national contest for its 27th annual Red Ribbon Week, which runs from Oct. 24-31. Families can enter the contest to win a $1,000 grant for their school and a new iPad for their home. To enter, decorate the front of your home (it can be your door, mailbox, fence, etc.) with this year's message: "The Best Me is Drug Free." Then, take a photo with your family and the Red Ribbon Week decoration. EARTH SCIENCE DAY

The 15th annual Western New York Earth Science Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Penn Dixie Paleontological and Outdoor Education Center in Hamburg. Activities will include drilling and rock coring demonstrations, exhibits, live animals, face painting and more. The event is free, but fossil collection is $7 for adults and $6 for children. FASHION CLASSES

Darellyn McKnight, a portrait artist and graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, will hold classes for teens on fashion sketching and design from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Fridays, starting this week through Nov. 2, at Hobby Lobby, 2090 George Urban Blvd., Cheektowaga. MORE ‘KNUFFLE BUNNY'

Thanks to a grant from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western New York, the Theatre of Youth will offer a free performance of "Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Musical" to families with children who have special needs at 2 p.m. Saturday in Allendale Theatre, 203 Allen St. To reserve tickets, call 884-4400, Ext. 304, or email boxoffice@theatreofyouth.org.

SCIENCE CLUB

Sacred Heart Academy, 3860 Main St., Amherst, will host an after-school science club for sixth- and seventh-grade girls from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m. twice a month on Mondays, beginning next week. AUDITION

The Missoula Children's Theatre will return to the Kenan Center to cast actors in grades kindergarten through 12 to perform in the original musical, "Beauty Lou and the Country Beast." Approximately 50 roles are available. A group audition will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at the Kenan Center, 195 Beattie Ave., Lockport. No prior experience is necessary. Students are also needed for positions as assistant directors. The ninth annual World on Your Plate food forum will be held Friday and Saturday at Daemen College, Charles J. Wick Center, 4380 Main St., Amherst.
