YATES – An Albion man continued to be evaluated at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester early tonight for the left arm injury he suffered when his clothing and arm got tangled in the mower deck on a tractor he was operating in an apple orchard along Platten Road.
David S. Klopp, 43, was described by the Orleans County Sheriff’s Office as a friend of farm owner Scott Woodworth. The accident occurred about 12:30 p.m.; after Klopp extracted himself from the machinery, he managed to walk to a nearby house, where an emergency medical services team was summoned. The team arranged to have him flown to the Rochester hospital by a Mercy Flight helicopter, deputies said.
Woodworth stressed to deputies that Klopp is a friend who occasionally works for him “but is not an employee.” Sheriff Deputy J.J. Cole investigated the accident aided by state troopers from the Albion barracks. A Medina Fire Department crew and Lyndonville firefighters also assisted at the scene.
