A Buffalo man wanted in a fatal stabbing last weekend on Woodlawn Avenue has been arrested in Cleveland and is expected to be arraigned in a Buffalo courtroom Friday on a second-degree murder charge.
Anthony Williams, 25, is accused of stabbing Michael A. Ballard Jr., 23, several times in the 500 block of Woodlawn about 11:30 p.m. Friday, said Dennis J. Richards, Buffalo police chief of detectives.
Williams was arrested Sunday by Cleveland police in that city’s Greyhoud bus station as he was headed for Las Vegas, Richards said. He said Buffalo homicide detectives had developed Williams as a person on interest and contacted Cleveland officers with a request they check the bus terminal.
Ballard was taken by a friend after the stabbing to Sisters of Charity Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Williams has been jailed in Cleveland pending extradition orders and he is expected to be in Buffalo sometime Friday, the detective chief said.
