A new state initiative to help the long-term unemployed find jobs is hosting an all-day event Friday to assist with resumes, interviewing, job leads and training opportunities.
Members of the state’s “Mobile Reemployment Response Team” will be at the Erie Community College City Campus from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Atrium at 121 Ellicott St.
The team will focus on people who have received 27 or more weeks of unemployment insurance, although all are welcome to the event.
Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office said the state will distribute $6 million in federal grants for wage subsidies to companies that hire long-term unemployed people.
The local Department of Labor will canvass companies for job opportunities that meet the terms of the federal grant.
