DUNKIRK – A four-month multi-agency investigation of crack cocaine sales in this city came to a head Wednesday afternoon with the midday arrests of two teens.

The 17-year-old boys were arrested on Central Avenue by city police. One of the teens is being held without bail on felony charges of criminal possession of a controlled substance that carry a possible combined prison term of up to 29 years.

The other teen was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and turned over to Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies on an outstanding arrest warrant unrelated to the drug probe.

During the investigation – conducted by police detectives and the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force – undercover agents made crack cocaine purchases from one of the teens, who was in possession of what police called “significant amounts of crack cocaine packaged for street sale,” and cash.

The other teen had “significant quantities of marijuana packaged for street sale as well as cash,” police said.
