NIAGARA FALLS – A Niagara Avenue man was arraigned in City Court Tuesday on felony charges after he allegedly stole a cash drawer from a Wilson Farms clerk on Sunday night.
Ahmed H. McCray, 34, was arraigned on charges on third-degree robbery and petit larceny. He was remanded to Niagara County Jail in lieu of $18,000 bail and a return court date was set for Friday.
A Wilson Farms clerk told city police that she had been in the office counting a cash register at 9:40 p.m. Sunday when a man came into the office, pushed her out of the way, and fled with both the drawer and $157 in cash.
The cashier said she had just finished counting the money when suddenly she felt someone behind her and a man in black grabbed the drawer and fled.
Investigators spoke to witnesses at the scene and viewed surveillance video and were able to identify a suspect. McCray was arrested by detectives just after 8 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Military Road.
