LE ROY – A neighborhood in this Genesee County village had to be evacuated for about an hour Monday morning after a live homemade explosive – possibly a grenade – was found in a vehicle stopped for speeding, authorities said.

The device was found after an East Aurora man was stopped for speeding about 6:45 a.m. on Lake Street, Le Roy Detective John Condidorio said.

“The explosive has been secured by the Bomb Squad,” Condidorio said.

Paul Kaiser, 26, was charged with first-degree criminal possession of a weapon, possession of marijuana, speeding and driving with a suspended license.
