LOCKPORT – Registration time is running out for those who want to vote in the Nov. 6 presidential election, and the Niagara County Board of Elections will be open extra hours this week to help voters who are new to the rolls or who have moved since they last voted.
Republican Election Commissioner Mary Ann L. Casamento said the registration deadline is Saturday for those registering in person, but mailed forms must be postmarked by Friday.
She suggested that anyone planning to mail a registration form should do so by Thursday, to be safe. The forms can brought to the Board of Elections, 111 Main St., to be hand-stamped.
The office will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, except Thursday, when it remains open until 7 p.m. The board also will be open Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m.
Those planning to change their party affilitation must have a new registration form at the election office by Friday, or the change won’t take effect until January 2014, Casamento said.
