A Buffalo man was killed Thursday night when he hit a construction barrier, lost control of his car and it overturned on Route 400 near Jamison Road in the Town of Elma, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The man, whose name has not yet been released, was northbound at about 8:50 p.m. when he hit the center barrier with his 2007 Ford Crown Victoria and drove off the right hand side of the road.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Speed appears to be a contributing factor in the accident, deputies said.
The northbound lanes of Route 400 were closed for approximately four hours after the accident.
Spring Brook Fire Company and the Jamison Road Fire Company assisted at the scene.
The sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate.
The operator’s name is being withheld pending notification of relatives.
