Buffalo State College’s radio station WBNY-FM 91.3 is marking 30 years on the air with three events today and Friday at the campus on 1300 Elmwood Ave.
“Thirty years for a college station to be broadcasting on an FM band is pretty special,” said Nick Stutzman, general manager of the station and a journalism student. “We are not only celebrating our station, but also what has made us a great station: local music and communication.”
The events are:
• “Radio Built for the Future,” a seminar featuring a panel of students and professionals working in radio and television, at 12:15 p.m. today in the E.H. Butler Library, Room 210.
• “Showcasing Student Weather Forecasting: A Unique Opportunity,” at 3 p.m. today in the Classroom Building, Room B119.
Attendees will learn how to deliver radio weather forecasts. They also can tour the college Meteorology Lab and view a presentation on forecasting tools.
• “30th Anniversary Concert,” 7 p.m. Friday at the Performing Arts Center in Rockwell Hall.
Performers will include local artists Dotsun Moon, Whiskey Reverb, Intent to Sell and Dr. 000.
Tickets are $5; $3 for students with ID, available at the Rockwell Hall box office or by calling 878-3005.
