NIAGARA FALLS – A department store clerk was charged with shoplifting five times in one month while on the job as a Target clerk on Niagara Falls Boulevard.
Antoinette E. Paonessa, 23, of Niagara Avenue, was charged by city police Wednesday with petit larceny for allegedly shoplifting jewelry and underwear on five occasions since Sept. 7 at the Target store. Total value of the items was $97, according to store security.
Paonessa allegedly took earrings, a bracelet, and underwear out its packaging or removed security sensors, then hid them in her clothing. In some cases, she left things in a dressing room and few hours later went back to retrieve the items, hiding it on her prior to leaving the store, police said.
