A Buffalo man wanted on burglary and grand larceny charges was arrested Wednesday and accused of preying on an elderly Elma man.
Bryan Colon, 33, of the Niagara Street Shoreline apartment complex, was arrested Wednesday night after a nearly monthlong effort to arrest the elusive suspect, Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reported Thursday.
Colon is accused stealing $7,400 worth of items in a burglary Sept. 7 at a 79-year-old man’s North Davis Road home in Elma, Howard said. A suspicious neighbor took down the license plate of Colon’s car and called police after spotting Colon walking around in the victim’s backyard, the sheriff said.
Colon escaped arrest about a week after the burglary by jumping out a second-floor window of his apartment and running away from detectives, Howard said. Colon tried that again Wednesday, but detectives were prepared for his escape plan.
None of the victim’s cash and valuables have been recovered and the investigation continues, Howard said.
