An occupied home on Buffalo’s West Side was destroyed in an early-morning fire Wednesday that left four people homeless and caused an estimated $101,000 damage, Buffalo fire officials said.
Firefighters responding to a 4 a.m. alarm at 176 Herkimer St. found heavy fire in the rear of the house.
The blaze caused an estimated $90,000 damage at 176 Herkimer, plus $8,000 exposure damage at 172 Herkimer and $3,000 at 178 Herkimer.
The Red Cross was called to assist four adults forced to flee from their home on Herkimer, two blocks west of Grant Street, north of West Ferry Street.
The cause remains under investigation.
