A thief with a penchant for lighters has taken more than $400 worth of them in two recent larcenies, Amherst police revealed Wednesday.
Shortly before 11 p.m. last Wednesday, a thief stole nearly $100 worth of BIC lighters from a Main Street gas/convenience store.
Then on Monday, someone who distracted a store clerk stole more than $300 worth from a similar-type store in Eggertsville.
Amherst police say they’re looking for a black male, about 6 foot 1 and 180 pounds, possibly with a tattoo of a woman’s name on his neck.
Anyone with information on either crime may call the Amherst Police Detective Bureau at 689-1385 or 689-1339.
