DARIEN – The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office and the Darien Volunteer Fire Department are trying to determine what caused the early morning fire that heavily damaged the barn of the Oles family on County Line Road.
The fire, called in about 1:53 a.m., destroyed the structure, which was used to store farm equipment. No financial damage estimate had been made by this evening.
Investigators are considering a possible electrical shortage or overheated damp hay in the barn as possible causes. No injuries were reported but rescue crews were called to the scene along with firefighters.
