Those looking for a volunteer opportunity to make Buffalo look a little more beautiful will be in luck this month at Forest Lawn.
Volunteers are needed to help with the planting of about 250 trees around the perimeter of the cemetery at 1411 Delaware Ave., a Forest Lawn spokeswoman said.
The planting will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Oct. 26 and 27. .
The project is a joint effort by Forest Lawn and Re-Tree WNY, a group that was started after the 2006 storm that killed many of the regionís trees. Forest Lawn was among the green spaces that lost trees in the storm.
During the event, about 250 bare-root deciduous trees will be planted along the inside perimeter of the cemeteryís fence, said a spokeswoman for Forest Lawn.
Tools will be provided. Participants are asked to wear work clothing and shoes.
Registration is not required but would be appreciated. Call Lesa Whitlow at 885-1606, Ext. 206.
The event will take place rain or shine.
