A South Division Street man was charged Wednesday with attempted arson, assault and other counts for allegedly threatening to set fire to a neighbor woman and her car during an early morning incident, Buffalo police reported.
Vernon P. Thomas, 49, is accused of confronting a neighbor at 7:45 a.m. while holding a gasoline can, choking the woman and throwing gas on her and into her car while swearing at her, police said.
Thomas was charged with second-degree attempted arson, criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment, aggravated harassment, harassment and criminal mischief.
