. Football's Week Six features plenty of matchups with teams looking to improve their playoff seeding or simply trying to qualify for the postseason. On Friday, No. 1 large school Orchard Park travels to No. 8 Jamestown in Class AA South. Cheektowaga, which moved up to the No. 2 small school in WNY, is at No. 10 Lew-Port. Two teams coming off their first losses last week look to rebound when Eden travels to Pioneer in a battle for first place in Class B South. Williamsville East is at Williamville South, in a game between teams with 2-2 records in Class A South.
The big game on Saturday is Aquinas at Canisius. The Crusaders are looking to hand the Little Irish their second loss in a row to a Monsignor Martin Association team. No. 2 large school St. Joe's, coming off a 27-14 win at Aquinas last week, is at Lockport.
. No. 3 Williamsville East boys soccer team hosts rival No. 4 Williamsville South on Tuesday in an ECIC II rematch. East handed South, its only loss of the year, 1-0. Game at 4:30 p.m. A win for the Flames would give them a two-game lead in ECIC II. Also on Tuesday, No. 1 Clarence hosts No. 5 Orchard Park at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday's noteworthy matchups include No. 7 Canisius hosting Wilson at 4:30 and No. 2 Lockport hosting Niagara-Wheatfield at 4:30 p.m. On Thursday No. 1 small school, also the state's top-ranked team in Class B, hosts No. 8 large school Lake Shore at 4:30 p.m. On Friday it's No. 6 Sweet Home hosting No. 3 Williamsville East at 4:45 p.m. In a Niagara Frontier League game on Saturday, Kenmore West hosts Grand Island at 3 p.m.
Super Monday is next week as Nichols will host the 4th annual event featuring four games involving some of WNY's top boys soccer teams. Nichols plays East Aurora at 10 a.m., Canisius takes on Clarence at 11 a.m. St. Francis plays Orchard Park at 12:30 p.m. and St. Joe's meets Akron at 1:30 p.m.
The No. 1 ranked Orchard Park boys volleyball team plays two ranked teams this week. The Quakers (10-2) are at No. 6 Frontier tonight and will be home to No. 10 West Seneca West on Thursday. No.4 Hamburg faces visiting No. 5 Lake Shore tonight at 7:30 p.m. and then travels to Frontier on Friday. All matches are at 6:30 p.m.
. Iroquois, the No. 1 ranked team in WNY in field hockey, plays at Lancaster on Wednesday and hosts Pioneer on Thursday.
