A Derby man was in critical condition in the trauma intensive care unit at Erie County Medical Center Tuesday night, as a result of a tractor-trailer driver running a red light in Eden earlier in the day, Eden police reported.
Brett Farrell, 20, had to be extricated from his 2004 sedan by members of the Eden Fire Department and the Eden Emergency Squad after James Kipfer, 60, of Cowlesville, ran the red light shortly after 1 p.m. at Route 20 and South Creek Road and slammed into Farrell’s car, which already was in the intersection, police said.
The crash is under investigation and Kipfer faces charges, police said late Tuesday.
