HINSDALE – An Olean man was charged Tuesday by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office with animal cruelty but not directly for the pet’s death.
The dog was found in early August hanging on its leash on an Underwood Road bridge.
John Bird, 44, was charged for allegedly letting his brown and black terrier roam free on a back road and not properly feeding the dog or providing it with water before its death, deputies said.
Bird faces court proceedings later this month.
