A 17-year-old Orchard Park resident was injured and taken to Erie County Medical Center after a spectacular car crash early Sunday in which he struck a fire hydrant, utility pole, two signs, three trees and a large flower box, according to Orchard Park police.
The teenager, who was not identified by police, was speeding northbound on North Buffalo Road, according to police witnesses. He passed another vehicle before crossing over the center line, leaving the road, and striking multiple objects about 3:35 a.m., police stated.
The teen was helped out of his car, hospitalized and subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while impaired by drugs and alcohol, marijuana possession, operating a vehicle on a restricted junior license and other counts, police said. More charges are pending following the results of a blood test.
