Twins Tess and Jenna Luzi, juniors at Clarence High School, took part in the Walk to End Alzheimer's last Saturday, where they placed second in team fundraising with a total of $6,265.

The girls lost their grandfather, Frank Luzi Sr., to Alzheimer's disease, and saw firsthand how the disease gradually took his life and affected the lives of all those around him.

"We do a lot of community service and thought entering the Walk to End Alzheimer's as a team would be a great way to honor our grandpa and help raise money to fund research for a cure at the same time," the girls said in an email.

"We initially set a goal of $1,000 and were able to reach it in a day," the girls continued. "We set a new goal of $5,000 and were able to reach that toward the end of our fundraising efforts."
