The Buffalo Museum of Science will open "The Science of Sports," an interactive exhibit that investigates the science behind Buffalo's favorite sports, on Saturday. The family-friendly exhibit will run through Jan. 6. Cost is $7-$9; free for children under 2. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Sunday with extended hours until 9 p.m. on the final Friday of the month (Oct. 26, Nov. 30 and Dec. 28). The Central Library, Lafayette Square, will be hosting the fourth annual Comics Fest from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6. As part of the event, a drawing contest is open to artists ages 7 and older. Entries should be no larger than 11 inches by 7 inches. Submissions must include name, age, contact information and a title or description of the artwork. The Niagara River Region Scarecrow Display will take place during the month of October along the streets of Lewiston, Sanborn, Ransomville and Youngstown, and schools are on the list of those eligible to participate. Judging will take place from Oct. 15-19 and will be based on creativity, originality and quality of workmanship. The entry fee is $35 and entries should be submitted by Friday to the Niagara River Region Chamber of Commerce, 100 N. Third St., Lewiston.
