School superintendent resigns over DWI arrest
The Warsaw Central School Board tonight accepted the resignation of Superintendent Valerie K. Burke, effective immediately, as a result of belated disclosures of her drunken-driving arrest by state troopers on Interstate 490 in Rochester shortly after midnight May 21, 2011.
Following a 90-minute closed-door session by the School Board in the Warsaw elementary school where Burke's office was located, Board President Bob Cummins confirmed the board had accepted the superintendent's resignation.
Burke, who had been superintendent of the school district since 2010, could not be reached to comment. The school board met publicly for a few minutes before going into a closed executive session to deal with the superintendent's resignation letter
