A man and woman were charged with gun possession Wednesday afternoon after Erie County sheriff's deputies checked out a disturbance in the car both suspects were in after the vehicle stopped at West Eagle and Pearl streets near the Erie County Holding Center.
Darius L. Penn, 29, and Tocarra Steward, 28, of Buffalo, were charged with felony criminal possession of a weapon after deputies reporting finding a loaded handgun in the center console of the vehicle while looking to stop a mid-day argument between Penn and Steward.
Deputies Dan Milbrandt and Adam Day said both of those in the car denied owning the handgun.
Penn also was charged with vehicle and traffic infractions, including driving with a suspended driver's license and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, deputies said.
