A Buffalo man faces between five and 40 years in prison after a federal court jury convicted him Friday of possessing with the intent to distribute cocaine.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Thomas S. Duszkiewicz and Frank T. Pimentel said Jesus Antonio Cotto, 43, was found to be in possession of about nine ounces of cocaine and a digital scale when he was initially stopped by police. They said a search of his home revealed another nine ounces of cocaine, another digital scale and a semi-automatic pistol.
Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny will sentence Cotto on Jan. 9.
Cotto's conviction is the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
