ROYALTON - A burglar made off more than $3,000 in jewelry from an Ertman Road home while the residents were shopping Friday, Niagara County sheriff's deputies said.

Investigators believe the intruder entered the home through a basement door between 1:45 and 5:05 p.m. and stole the jewelry from a bedroom that was ransacked.

Also, a .22-caliber Ruger revolver and amunition were stolen from a locked gun cabinet, as well as 40 $2 bills. Deputies said the total loss was estimated at $3,530.
