DUNKIRK - City police charged a man Saturday in connection with a Thursday shooting.

Brandon C. Washington, 27, of Dunkirk, was arrested in Niagara Falls at about 3:30 a.m. and charged with second-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He had been named in an arrest warrant that Dunkirk police issued in the wake of the shooting. A man was shot in the leg shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday in the 600 block of South Main Street.

City Judge Walter F. Drag jailed Washington in lieu of $50,000 bail to await further court proceedings.
