Earlier this month, the Impact Artists Gallery and the Breast Cancer Network of Western New York teamed up to present "Altered Perceptions: A Journey of Strength and Courage." For the exhibition, organizers invited 81 artists to create their own "ArtBreasts," using the torsos of female mannequins as their canvases. The artists used a wide range of creative approaches and mediums, from metal and plaster to flowers and beads. The result is on view in the gallery in the Tri-Main Center (2495 Main St.).
And on Saturday, 24 of those completed works will go up for sale in an auction scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in the gallery. Organizers are hoping to find homes for the artists' work in local hospitals, doctor's offices, treatment clinics and other medical facilities and are encouraging bidders to donate their purchases to those facilities. The exhibition will remain on view through Sept. 29.
The auction, led by Richard Bronstein, will feature live music by Geno McManus and food from Buffalo's Professional Culinary Institute. Tickets are $25 or two for $40. For more information, call 835-6817.
